Job Description
Role Overview

The Community Support Professional is responsible for training, motivating, supervising, and communicating with individuals served to achieve effective results. The role involves developing a Person-Centered Plan (PCP) in cooperation with each person served, and implementing the plan to achieve PCP objectives. The CSP monitors each individual's progress and documents and reports the results to the Individual Support Team (IST).

What You Will Do

Instructs, demonstrates, and interacts with people receiving supports to achieve various goals in accordance with the PCP. Uses sound judgment and abides by supervisor's instructions and applicable regulatory standards to foster self-sufficiency and independence. Participates in developing, modifying, and adapting instruction and training to meet individual needs.

The ideal candidate will have good oral and written communication skills, ability to perform arithmetic operations accurately, and the ability to lift heavy objects. The candidate should be able to interpret and implement support plans, motivate, instruct, and supervise persons with intellectual disabilities, and have knowledge of psychiatric disorders, intellectual disabilities, cultural diversity, and available community resources.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations accurately
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (minimum 30 pounds)
  • Valid Alabama driver's license
  • Proof of current liability insurance
  • Ability to interpret and implement support plans
  • Ability to motivate, instruct, and supervise persons with intellectual disabilities
