Role OverviewConstruction Inspector I, II, III, or IV will inspect construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, traffic signals, airports, and related structures in accordance with plans and specifications. The role requires contact with contractors, performing materials tests, and manufacturing process inspections at fabrication sites. The Construction Inspector I, II, III, or IV will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with approved safety standards.
What You Will Do
The Construction Inspector I, II, III, or IV will perform various duties such as calculating payments due contractors, consulting with project engineers, reviewing equipment utilization data, and ensuring adequate levels of equipment and materials are assigned to projects. The role also involves monitoring project phasing and traffic control plans, inspecting barricades, and observing and inspecting ongoing construction work.

Requirements
- High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies
- Valid driver’s license
- Construction engineering policies and procedures
- Applicable inspection methods, procedures, and techniques
- Applicable surveying procedures, standards, and instruments
- Applicable testing methods, processes, and procedures
- Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration rules and regulations
- Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints, and maps
- Performing calculations using algebra, trigonometry, and geometry
- Performing calculations to include material and labor estimates, expenses, technical survey data, and engineering calculations
- Analyzing and organizing business and technical data
- Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Shows initiative and action beyond what is required to improve products or services
- Is self-starting and completes assignments independently without constant supervision
