Role Overview

The Consumer Loan Underwriter plays a key role in helping members achieve their financial goals by reviewing and making loan decisions within established lending limits and policies. This position works closely with Consumer Loan Originators and Member Service Officers to provide clear, timely communication and informed decisions on submitted loans.

Underwrites, reviews, and decides on loan applications; exercises exceptional judgment in loan decisions; provides clear direction and guidance to Consumer Loan Originators and Member Service Officers.

Requirements

  • High school graduate, with some college level related classes
  • At least two years of experience working at a financial institution
  • Experience and proven ability at exercising good judgment, making good loan decisions
  • Ability to work independently and good written and verbal communication skills
  • Responsible for abiding and complying with the policy for compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws and regulations (BSA/AML) and the policy for compliance with office of foreign assets control laws and regulations (OFAC)
