Job Description
Role Overview

The Cook is responsible for safely preparing food according to recipe and projected amounts, ensuring food served at proper temperature, and documenting temperatures. The Cook works with the manager to improve food quality, try new recipes, and control cost. The Cook serves customers in a polite and friendly manner.

What You Will Do

The Cook's main day-to-day responsibilities include preparing food, ensuring food quality, and serving customers. The Cook must also follow menu cycles, projected servings, and standardized recipes. The Cook must document temperatures, act on unacceptable temperatures, and ensure equipment is functioning properly.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The Cook must have a valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD) prior to starting. The Cook must also pass a WV DHHR Protected Services Record Check and a WV CARES fingerprint-based criminal background check. The Cook must be able to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs, and work in a noisy setting and under deadline pressures.

Requirements

  • Valid Food Service Worker Permit (FSWP) from Monongalia County Health Department (MCHD)
  • Pass a WV DHHR Protected Services Record Check
  • Pass a WV CARES fingerprint-based criminal background check
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years quantity cooking experience preferred (hot production)
