Role OverviewThe Cook prepares well-balanced, nutritious meals for students at the Bizzell-Group: New Haven Job Corps. The role involves collaborating with the food service manager to plan and prepare meals, ensuring meal service is provided for various activities, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. The Cook must also assist in developing procedures for ordering, purchasing, and storing food products, and ensure that all meals meet dietary needs and desires of a diverse population.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Cook include preparing three meals per day, except on holidays and weekends, planning and preparing meals using a 28-day cycle cafeteria menu, and ensuring that all meals meet the dietary needs and desires of a diverse population. The Cook must also assist in implementing procedures to obtain student input into meal planning and evaluation.
Why It Might Be a Fit
To be a fit for this role, you should have one to three months of food service/preparation experience or related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and knowledge of basic food preparation and proper food handling procedures. You should also be able to work in a fast-paced environment, under the direction of senior personnel, and have high-level organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
