Cook

The Cook is responsible for the preparation, cooking, and serving of food in an institution, following New York City Food Standards and Executive Order 122. The role requires knowledge of sanitary codes and the ability to provide professional and courteous service to staff, residents, and co-workers.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include preparing and cooking food, portioning out food, maintaining the cleanliness and order of the work area, and training Institutional Aids and contracted employees in food preparation and sanitation.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have two years of cooking experience, with the ability to speak, read, and write English and carry out simple instructions. Experience in a correctional facility is preferred.
