Role OverviewThe Cook prepares meals according to approved menus and recipes, taking into account the special dietary needs of residents living in the community. In the absence of the Dining Services Director, the cook supervises dietary staff to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen at all times.
What You Will Do
Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes, maintain a clean and orderly work area, report faulty equipment, and ensure all leftover food is properly cooled and stored.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Must be experienced in dining services, Serv-Safe certified, and able to learn quickly and apply principles learned. Must be able to work well with people as part of a team and maintain good personal hygiene.
Requirements
- Experience in dining services
- Serv-Safe certification
- Basic understanding of food service operations
- Ability to read, write, and make simple calculations
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and withstand temperature extremes
- Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to carry heavy objects for 20 feet
- Ability to pull, push, grasp, and reach adequately to perform necessary cooking activities
