Job Description
As a Platform Engineer in OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) org, you will work on building new platform capabilities from scratch, grounded in real customer deployments. You will collaborate closely with customer-tagged FDEs and partner teams across engineering and product to incubate early versions, validate them with design partners, and drive adoption by making the capability durable, usable, and ready to scale. This role is for strong software and ML engineers who want to turn frontier signal into reusable platform capability.
Requirements
5+ years of software engineering or ML engineering experience
Track record of shipping 0→1 capabilities
Experience in high-ambiguity, fast-iteration environments
Experience in building or operating systems where reliability, security, and governance shaped design
Ability to communicate clearly across engineering, product, go-to-market, and executive audiences
