Job Description
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Correction Lieutenant to supervise correction officers and ensure the safety and security of the facility, inmates, and staff. The successful candidate will have experience in enforcement of security measures and supervisory principles.

Requirements

  • Supervises correction officers and Correction Sergeants/Counselors
  • Instructs and evaluates CO's
  • Assigns staff to posts
  • Enforces post orders assignments
  • Conducts surveillance security of institution and property
  • Prevents escapes, apprehends escapees, and/or prevents incidents which threaten the security and safety of the facility/incarcerated population/staff or general public
  • Monitors and directs custody operations during movement of inmates
  • Attends monthly unit meetings and assists the Correction Specialist
  • Manages disputes and seeks resolution involving incarcerated population
  • Participates in team approach to unit planning, operation and problem solving
  • Gathers information and writes reports covering accidents, fires, and employee and inmate’s disciplinary actions
  • Serves on rules infraction board or other committees as required
