Job Description
Correction Lieutenant is responsible for supervising correction officers and correction sergeants/counselors, ensuring the safety and security of the facility and its population, and enforcing post orders and assignments.

Requirements

  • Supervises correction officers and correction sergeants/counselors
  • Ensures the safety and security of the facility and its population
  • Enforces post orders and assignments
  • Conducts surveillance security of institution and property
  • Prevents escapes and apprehends escapees
  • Monitors and directs custody operations
  • Attends unit meetings and assists in supervising correction officers
  • Assists in supervising and arranging for the supervision of meaningful activities
  • Ensures the availability and utilization of personnel protective equipment
  • Responds to the needs of incarcerated persons
  • Manages disputes and seeks resolution involving incarcerated population
  • Participates in team approach to unit planning and problem solving
  • Gathers information and writes reports
  • Completes employee and incarcerated worker performance evaluations
  • Schedules work assignments and population bed movement
  • Ensures safety and security of equipment and supplies
  • Makes periodic rounds
