Correction Lieutenant

The Correction Lieutenant supervises correction officers and correction sergeants/counselors, ensuring the safety and security of the facility and its population. They instruct and evaluate COs, assign staff to posts, and enforce post orders. The role requires constant rounds to inspect cells, shops, and recreation areas for cleanliness and security. The Correction Lieutenant also monitors and directs custody operations, attends unit meetings, and assists in supervising and arranging for the supervision of meaningful activities.

What You Will Do

The Correction Lieutenant will conduct surveillance security of the institution and property, prevent escapes, and apprehend escapees. They will also ensure the utilization of body-worn cameras and body scanners, and make periodic rounds to inspect cells, shops, and recreation areas. Additionally, they will manage disputes and seek resolution involving the incarcerated population, and report complaints of abuse by employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in enforcement of security measures for detention of felons or consumers who are criminally insane in controlled environment
• 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques or providing work direction & training to other employees
• Commercial driver's license (if assigned to operate vehicles regulated by Section 4506.01 of revised code)
