Role OverviewThis position is within the NC Department of Adult Correction, Division of Institutions, at Southern Correctional Institution in Troy, NC. Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor, the role is responsible for carrying a caseload of offenders, conducting initial assessments, developing case plans, and making recommendations to the classification committee.
What You Will Do
Assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate specialized programs for offender rehabilitation, such as work assignments, work release, education, or recreation. Plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release, provide supportive counseling, and gather/evaluate information on offenders' past experiences, training, attitude, social environment, and mental capabilities.

Requirements
- Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution OR High school or GED diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction OR an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must produce a negative drug screening result
- Must successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
- Must possess a valid driver's license
