Job Description
The Department of Correction is recruiting for a Correctional Lieutenant to serve as Special Transportation Supervisor at the Correctional Transportation Unit in Cheshire. The position is a 40-hour, first shift 5x2 position, Monday - Friday, based in Cheshire. The Correctional Lieutenant will assist the Administrative Captain in supervising a large complement of Correction Officers on an assigned shift or as a shift supervisor, oversee Correction Officers who are transporting inmates within the community, and coordinate and supervise inmate transportation between correctional facilities, court houses, halfway houses, hospitals, and other required destinations.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in correctional work.
  • College training in corrections, behavioral sciences or criminal justice may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of one (1) year.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working within the Correctional Transportation Unit.
  • Experience compiling routes among correctional facilities, court houses, halfway houses, and medical buildings.
  • Experience with CT DOC databases (Mocha, DOC Portal, case notes, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with external law enforcement or partner agencies and internal DOC staff, including coordination of operations, information sharing or joint activities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Firearm certification.
  • Experience with Inmates on the following Status: High Security, Administrative Segregation, Chronic Discipline, Special Needs, Security Risk Groups.
