Role Overview

Correctional Officers are key to the smooth running of our jail at the Community Reintegration Center, supporting residents with their rehabilitation and creating a positive and safe environment. This is a full-time, hourly position located in Franklin, WI.

What You Will Do

Your main role will be monitoring and safeguarding the residents in a direct supervision housing unit, including managing routines, supervising meals, conducting searches, and evaluating resident behavior. You will need to instruct and direct residents, ensure safety, and deal with disruptive or violent behavior. You will also write reports and utilize software systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum Age of 18 required
  • High School Diploma, HSED or GED required
  • Valid Driver's License required upon application and must be maintained throughout employment
  • Applicants shall be of good moral character determined from the results of fingerprinting and background investigation. Felons, unless pardoned will be rejected
  • Certification by the Law Enforcement Standards Board must be acquired during the probationary period and maintained during incumbency (Certification Training provided)
  • Must have the ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, identify colors, and lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • CANDIDATES MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE APPROPRIATE TRAINING PROGRAM.
  • SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE QUALIFYING WITH A SERVICE WEAPON ON A REGULAR BASIS. POSITIONS REQUIRE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING COURSES, WHICH MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: JAILOR CERTIFICATION, AND DIRECT SUPERVISION PRINCIPLES. APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO A THOROUGH BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION. APPLICANTS WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING AND MEDICAL EXAMINATION AFTER PRELIMINARY OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT.
