Correctional Officer Sergeant

This is an internal promotional opportunity for a Correctional Officer Sergeant position at the Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda, Florida. The incumbent will supervise male or female inmates, manage inmate housing areas, enforce rules and sanitation standards, and perform crisis intervention functions. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of basic recruit training, and one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.

What You Will Do

Duties include supervising inmates, managing inmate housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation standards, transporting inmates, conducting accurate head counts, maintaining custody and control over inmates, inventories personal property of inmates, and performing crisis intervention functions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Be a citizen of the United States
• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers
• Have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida
• Not have received a suspension within the past 12 months
• Not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months
• Not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years
