Role Overview

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking a Correctional Program Specialist to work under general supervision and require working knowledge of correctional social programs and program techniques. The role involves completing risk assessments, planning and conducting unit programming, and assessing programming efforts of participants.

What You Will Do

The Correctional Program Specialist will complete risk assessments and case planning, plan and conduct unit programming, assess programming efforts of participants, and interview inmates for inclusion in programs. They will also make referrals for programs and services, coordinate activities with volunteers and community service providers, and maintain records of program participation.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires a minimum of 18 months of experience in social or behavioral science, criminal justice, or human services, and 6 months of experience in report writing, record keeping, interviewing, counseling, or contact with social service agencies. The ideal candidate will have strong counseling and rehabilitation skills, as well as experience with risk assessment and direct support/direct care.
