Job Description
The Cost Accountant will monitor and analyze accounting data, produce financial reports, and analyze product costs. Responsibilities include working with operations management, developing budgets, improving internal controls, performing audits, and providing recommendations for operational efficiency. They will also prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and support audits.

Requirements

  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and analysis of actuals vs. plan.
  • Work with Ops management each month so they understand their financial statements and impact of decisions.
  • Analyze product cost and variances associated with purchased and manufactured goods to determine root causes.
  • Perform annual cost roll in ERP after working with operations to understand causes of production variances; review BOMs and routers for accuracy.
  • Work with FP&A and Plant Manager to develop annual manufacturing budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Prepare and analyze OES calculation for assigned locations.
  • Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory and follow up on inventory-related order status (such as PO, SO, WO, service order).
  • Work with Manufacturing to understand expenses and deviations from standard cost.
  • Perform and report on results of periodic audits of Inventories (Work in Process/Finished Goods/Raw Materials).
  • Assist in design of manufacturing KPIs and improvements to monthly reporting.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to operations efficiency.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations as assigned.
  • Provide consistent, timely and accurate reports and analysis to drive improvements.
  • Assist with SOX controls and review/audit to make sure internal controls for Ops are followed.
  • Provide support for any audits of assigned facilities (external, internal, tax, etc.).
  • Perform annual review of fixed assets.
  • Assist in special assignments as needed.
