Role Overview

As a Cost Estimator II at HDR, you will perform general or discipline cost estimating, generate capital cost and/or services estimates, and assist in developing conceptual quantities. You will work within assigned budget and time parameters to deliver products in a timely basis. You will also use parametric and other estimating practices to decrease time needed while still achieving a complete estimate.

What You Will Do

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include performing quantity takeoffs, developing Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) based on project requirements, and preparing capital costs estimates using a unit-cost or crew-based approach. You will also identify, solicit, and obtain vendor quotes for major cost drivers and prepare basis and assumption documentation.

Why It Might Be a Fit

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a minimum of 6-10 years' experience in producing estimates in a competitive environment and assessing cost risks based on contract terms and conditions relative to a cost estimate. You will also need to be proficient in the use of PACES, MCACES, or RS Means Estimating software and have prior experience with NAVFAC or USAF estimating guidance and requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in producing estimates in a competitive environment and assessing cost risks based on contract terms and conditions relative to a cost estimate
  • Knowledge of EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to the estimate types, classifications, and components
  • Experience with Lump Sum Design Build estimates
  • Must be proficient with Primavera and Timberline
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and schedules
  • Ability to develop electronic takeoffs
  • Required Certifications (or ability to complete with 12 months): CPE, CCT, CEP
