Role Overview

As a Cost Estimator II at HDR, you will perform general or discipline cost estimating, quantity takeoffs, and develop capital costs estimates. You will work within assigned budget and time parameters to deliver products in a timely basis. You will use parametric and other estimating practices to decrease time needed while still achieving a complete estimate.

What You Will Do

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include performing cost estimating, quantity takeoffs, developing capital costs estimates, and preparing detailed notes, assumptions, and documentation in support of estimate development. You will also identify and track changes in design resulting in cost variations and prepare services, distributable, contractor indirect and/or indirect cost estimates.

Why It Might Be a Fit

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a minimum of 6-10 years' experience in producing estimates in a competitive environment and assessing cost risks based on contract terms and conditions relative to a cost estimate. You will also need to be proficient in the use of estimating software such as PACES, MCACES, or RS Means Estimating software and have prior experience with NAVFAC or USAF estimating guidance and requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in producing estimates in a competitive environment and assessing cost risks based on contract terms and conditions relative to a cost estimate
  • Knowledge of EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to the estimate types, classifications, and components.
  • Experience with Lump Sum Design Build estimates.
  • Knowledge of market pricing and pricing sources in the area of specialization.
  • Knowledge of Work Breakdown Structures necessary for cost management.
  • Must be proficient with Primavera and Timberline
