Role OverviewStraight and Narrow, the largest program of its kind headquartered in Paterson, NJ, provides innovative and compassionate services to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Credentialed Counselor Intern functions as an integral part of the treatment team, providing individual, group, family, and didactic sessions as well as case management services to clients on their caseload. This is a paid position located at all Straight & Narrow Programs.
What You Will Do
Assess counseling needs of clients using standardized tools and diagnose substance disorders using the DSM-IV-TR. Develop and update client-centered treatment plans, provide substance abuse counseling services, and review clients throughout treatment to determine continued services or discharge. Document all services in the clinical record, participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and provide crisis intervention as necessary.

Requirements
- Must have a HS/AA/BA/BS or MA/MSW degree with an LSW, or LCSW, or LAC or LPC
- 1-3 years' experience in the addictions and/or mental health field
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
- Is familiar with NJSAMS, ASAM and LOCI
- Experience facilitating groups and individuals; and familiar with Drug Court Policies
- Excellent working knowledge of computers
