Crossing Guard Supervisor

Maintain control of children and vehicular traffic at crossing sites to ensure safe crossing.

What You Will Do

Direct actions of children at street intersections, record license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals, and report infractions to the police.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
• Knowledge of the geography of the community and the location of important buildings
• Ability to observe situations analytically and objectively and to report and record them clearly and completely
• Ability to react quickly and calmly to emergency situations
• Good general intelligence and emotional stability
• Ability to tactfully interact with the public, especially children
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Physically able to perform the duties of a crossing guard during any weather conditions
• Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write reports and correspondence in English
• Ability to speak effectively to children, parents, and school officials
• Must attend a mandatory School Crossing Guard class
