Job Description
Role Overview

HDR's Alaska office is seeking motivated archaeological field technicians for archaeology survey and data recovery for the 2026 field season (May-October). The successful applicant will be eligible for the ARCA Healthcare Program.

What You Will Do

Conduct archaeological survey and testing, dig shovel test pits and excavation units, identify historic and prehistoric artifacts, complete field forms, excavate and document archaeological excavation units and features, photograph resources, and log daily activities in issued field notebook.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of a crew chief and the Field Director, and will be required to spend the majority of his/her time outdoors conducting data recovery field efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Willingness to work under varied weather conditions
  • Successful candidates must be familiar with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities
