Role Overview

The Custodial Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Maintenance Operations (FMO) custodial services team. This includes managing a team of up to 10 supervisors and 90-120 non-exempt employees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality custodial services to Harvard faculties and departments, and maintaining compliance with departmental, university, and governmental policies and regulations.

What You Will Do

The Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of custodial services, including scheduling, training, and performance management. They will also be responsible for conducting weekly inspections, resolving issues, and participating in safety and quality surveillance rounds. Additionally, they will assist in the development and maintenance of standards for selecting candidates for supervisory and hourly positions.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum seven years' experience as a supervisor or manager of an effective service group in a mid-to-large operation with high standards for customer care, occupant experience, and quality of work
  • Demonstrated proficiency using various computer software systems and applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web-based applications
  • Must be able to understand, interpret, and enforce departmental and University policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and perform financial calculations and administrative duties
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
  • Successful completion of an annual Driver's License check
  • DMV background checks and clearances are required prior to hire
