Job Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Data Scientist to apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, and make valuable discoveries leading to the development and improvement of processes.
Requirements
Doctorate degree in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience
Strong working knowledge of 'omic analyses
Experience in High Performance Computing Environment
Experience with analysis of complex data specifically whole genome sequence data via cloud computing, transcriptomics (single cell and spatial) and metabolomics data
Experience working in Linux-based, command-line environments
Proficient in scripting languages such as, R, Python, and shell
Knowledge of best practices of reproducible and scalable research such as version control (git) and environment managing systems (e.g.: conda, Docker, Singularity)
Proficiency in the visualization of omics data
Ability to work as part of team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
