Job Description
The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the foundation of community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Day Camp Unit Lead will be responsible for supervising and developing activity plans for a group of children, and assisting in their social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development.

Requirements

  • Serve as a role model for all youth participating in the day camp program
  • Assist in providing meaningful programs for campers
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment
  • Welcome, parents and campers at all times
  • Assume equal responsibility for general housekeeping tasks
  • Attend all pre-camp training for all counseling staff, and attend all staff meetings and other activities as required
  • Have an understanding and follow all emergency procedures on the campsite
  • React kindly and firmly in a positive manner when disciplining children
  • Establish and maintain a positive and appropriate relationship with all coworkers, YMCA staff, YMCA members, program participants, and the general public
  • Document incidents and accidents
