Job Description
The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the foundation of community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Day Camp Unit Lead will be responsible for supervising, implementing, and developing activity plans for a group of children, promoting their social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive development.

Requirements

  • Serve as a role model for all youth participating in the day camp program by displaying exemplary behavior at all times.
  • Assist in providing meaningful programs for campers (not free play).
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment; attend to the needs of campers at all times.
  • Welcome, parents and campers at all times
  • Assume equal responsibility for general housekeeping tasks.
  • Attend all pre-camp training for all counseling staff, and attend all staff meetings and other activities as required.
  • React kindly and firmly in a positive manner when disciplining children and take a leadership role in interacting with youth.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and appropriate relationship with all coworkers, YMCA staff, YMCA members, program participants, and the general public.
