Deaf Direct Support Professional

The Deaf Direct Support Professional plays a vital role in the support services provided to individuals with disabilities. The role involves providing continuous and active involvement, including implementing an Individual Service Plan based on each person's strengths and needs. The Direct Support Staff is responsible for direct supervision and teaching-assisting with each person served, including homemaker and personal care services, health and medical care, dietary and special menu orders, independent living skill development, and vocational and community employment interests.

What You Will Do

The Deaf Direct Support Professional will be responsible for providing transportation, ensuring safety equipment is in good working order, documenting transportation, billing, and program documentation, and contributing to and attending regular staff meetings. They will also promote a supportive environment by modeling the guidelines of company philosophy, confidentiality, people-first language, empowerment, and fair and reasonable treatment of others.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of healthcare experience or working with disabilities individuals, a high school diploma or GED, and a current Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. They will be willing to work a flexible schedule and provide responsible supervision and assistance to adults with Developmental Disabilities.

Requirements

• Must successfully pass the DOT physical
• Minimum of High School diploma or GED
• Current Ohio Drivers License with acceptable driving record
• Criminal Background verification with acceptable clearance
• Willingness to work flexible schedule
• Ability to work as a team member and communicate in a positive and effective manner
• Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written skills
• Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals
• Maintains current and annual training requirements
• At least one year of healthcare experience or working with disabilities individuals
