Job Description
The Deputy Chief Legal Affairs Officer is responsible for developing policies, overseeing implementation, and providing legal expertise in the areas of Fair Hearing Administration, Office of Policy, Procedures, and Training, and Office of Advocacy. The position involves representing the agency in various hearings, monitoring operations, and developing plans for consolidation and improvement. The Deputy Chief Legal Affairs Officer will work closely with the General Counsel/Chief Legal Affairs Officer, Commissioner, and other stakeholders to achieve the mission and vision of the Department of Social Services/Human Resources Administration/Department of Homeless Services (DSS/HRA/DHS).

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • Four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar
  • Eighteen months of experience in the supervision of other attorneys in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work
  • Membership in the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment
