Job Description
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a strategic leader to serve as Deputy Chief of Investigations. This role focuses on protecting the public by guiding a high-impact investigative and inspection program that supports 22 professional health and human services licensing boards.

Requirements

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Investigations Unit
  • Administer and maintain the unit's complaint intake, case management, and tracking systems
  • Assign, supervise, and review investigations and inspections
  • Ensure alignment with Bureau enforcement priorities
  • Conduct or complete high-priority investigations as needed
  • Evaluate investigative and inspection policies and recommend program improvements
  • Oversee the Inspection Program, including development of inspection policies and performance measures
  • Represent the Enforcement Division at board meetings and in policy discussions
  • Ensure investigators are properly trained, equipped, and compliant with investigative standards
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise on investigative planning and priority-based case management
  • Coordinate with board counsel, prosecutors, and external partners to monitor case status
  • Manage and support investigative staff through performance oversight, workforce planning, and public-facing education
