Role OverviewThe Deputy Clerk serves as the primary point of contact for the Tippecanoe County Elected Clerk, responsible for serving multiple courts and offices. The role involves providing exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries, and processing various documents and records. The Deputy Clerk must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, handle stressful situations, and maintain confidentiality of department information and records.
What You Will Do
The Deputy Clerk will perform a variety of tasks, including answering phone calls, greeting office visitors, responding to inquiries, and processing documents and records. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete department files electronically, working with multiple computer applications and programs, and communicating with various government and public agencies and departments.

Requirements
- High school diploma or HSE required
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in data entry, customer service, and closely related experience
- Ability to meet all hiring and retention requirements, including passage of a background check
- Working knowledge of standard office policies and practices
- Working knowledge of standard office procedures and computer software programs used by the Clerk's Office
- Working knowledge of basic filing systems and ability to create and maintain accurate and complete department files electronically
- Ability to properly operate a variety of standard office equipment
- Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions
- Ability to emotionally handle stressful court cases
- Ability to learn and work with multiple computer applications and programs on a daily basis
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, attorneys, social service agencies, and the public
