Job Description
The Deputy Commissioner of Correction serves as a senior executive leader responsible for providing operational leadership, administrative oversight, strategic planning, and organizational direction for the Central Region’s administrative and support services divisions within the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. This position ensures that all regional support functions operate efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with departmental policies, legal mandates, fiscal requirements, and correctional best practices.

Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in corrections, criminal justice, criminology, social work, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience supervising or managing in a correctional setting, to include three (3) years performing correctional management duties as a Warden.
  • Substitution of additional years of experience performing correctional management duties for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Thirty graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in the fields of corrections, criminal justice, criminology, social work, or a related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience.
