Role Overview

The Deputy Director (Chief Data Officer) leads the Department's enterprise data and performance division, overseeing data governance, analytics, performance reporting, and organizational improvement efforts. This role is responsible for building a modern data environment that supports transparent, data-driven decision making across the agency. The position serves as the agency's strategic authority on data interoperability, emerging analytics capabilities, and digital transformation initiatives.

What You Will Do

The position is responsible for directing the development of data standards, system architecture coordination, and agency-wide data quality practices. The Chief Data Officer leads the Performance Shop, including oversight of project managers to establish agency-wide performance improvement cycles, including goal setting, KPIs, and quarterly results reviews.

Requirements

  • Education &/or experience in data management field or other relevant experience as determined by the appointing authority.
  • Bachelor's Degree required in a relevant field (e.g. Computer science, Data analytics); Masters preferred.
  • Two or more years' experience in performance management. PMP certification preferred.
  • Two or more years' experience in a direct supervisory/leadership role.
  • Experience in relevant areas such as Data Management, Continuous Improvement, Strategic Planning.
