Job Description
The Deputy Director of External & Legislative Affairs is responsible for defining the strategic vision for the external and legislative affairs portfolio and providing key support in setting overall programming on current and new initiatives. The role involves advising senior leadership, performing qualitative and quantitative assessments, strategizing and coordinating with senior leadership, and representing the Mayor’s Office in the recruitment of M/WBEs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a baccalaureate degree
  • Experience in public policy analysis, program implementation and project management
  • Proven capacity in project management skills, including organizing and strategic planning
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PPT, Excel and Publisher
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties, problem solve, work independently and within a team environment, pay close attention to detail, meet deadlines, work well under pressure
  • Ability to maintain an enthusiastic work ethic and a positive and helpful attitude and an ability to think outside the box
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface with all supervisory and frontline staff, including senior management and other respective stakeholders both in an outside government
  • Interest in New York City, procurement, policy and/or operations, a plus
