Role Overview

The Deputy Director serves as legal counsel and has supervisory responsibilities, engaging in policy work in concert with NYCHA's legal, managerial, and executive staff. The role involves providing legal counsel on matters related to vendor responsibility, policy interpretation, and implementation. The Deputy Director will also meet with NYCHA's Law Department and high-level staff to confer on the legal aspects of agency policies and respond to new regulations and legislation.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities include providing legal counsel, drafting and revising policy manuals, reviewing waiver requests, drafting decision memoranda, and developing guidance documents. The Deputy Director will also oversee the vendor performance evaluation process, provide legal guidance on vendor prequalification lists, and develop operational and program performance metrics.

To be a fit for this role, you should have admission to the New York State Bar and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience. You should also have 18 months of experience in supervising other attorneys in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity.
