Role Overview

The Deputy Director will oversee the development of new and improved rapid bus service in conjunction with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to further the goals of the Mayor and the NYC Streets Plan. The role involves developing infrastructure-intensive bus projects that reshape the built environment to bring quality transit service to all New Yorkers.

What You Will Do

The Deputy Director will assist with oversight of a team that conducts extensive community-centered public outreach, pursues and manages grants, navigates environmental review, tracks project development, develops designs, coordinates with the MTA, and initiates capital projects.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in transportation planning, street design, or transit priority project development
  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering bus lanes, busways, and other transit supportive street treatments
  • Strong multimodal street design perspective
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership, community boards, and elected officials
  • Familiarity with design, mapping, or analysis tools such as GIS, CAD, or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with federal funding, grants, and environmental review
