Role OverviewThe Deputy General Counsel will provide oversight and direction to ensure the agency is adhering to applicable laws, regulations, and policies. The DGC will report to the General Counsel and provide oversight and supervision to staff within the Office of the General Counsel, including attorneys, hearing examiners, and program coordinators. The DGC will also represent the Parole Board in all litigation matters and develop agency regulations and policies.
What You Will Do
The DGC will carry a caseload of civil litigation matters, respond to union grievances, subpoenas, and inquiries from other agencies, and work to resolve conflicts to ensure efficient operations. The DGC will also review and update policies and procedures, and ensure that the agency abides by necessary deadlines set by statute, regulation, and policy.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the Commonwealth's laws, the court system, particularly civil litigation, and public records law. The DGC will also have the ability to anticipate difficult personnel situations and resolve conflicts effectively, and communicate effectively and lead multiple project teams simultaneously.
Requirements
- At least six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in a particular specialty
- Current license and/or registration requirements established for the performance of the position
- At least two (2) years of experience in a project management, supervisory, or managerial capacity
