Role Overview

This is a highly responsible position in the criminal justice system. The employee is expected to perform all duties in the optimum responsible manner, demonstrate leadership by being a positive role model for staff, youth, and the community, and treat all persons with dignity and respect. The employee will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for youth, themselves, and other staff, and ensuring that all detained youth are provided their constitutional rights.

What You Will Do

The employee will assist in the operation of a secure detention center, ensuring the safe and secure custody of all assigned detained youth. They will also assist the supervisor in ensuring that detained youth's services and programming are in compliance with court orders, rules, Departmental policies, and procedures. The employee will perform duties in Master Control, admissions, releases, and transportation, as necessary, and supervise youth in all activities.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The successful candidate must be certified in accordance with State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice direct care training policy, or obtain such certification within 180 days of employment. They must also be able to communicate both orally and in writing, and effectively work with youth, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

  • Knowledge of good housekeeping tasks relative to maintaining the sanitary conditions of the facility
