Role OverviewThe Diesel Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing 101’s fleet of vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and in optimal working condition. This position helps prevent costly repairs, extend vehicle lifespan, minimize vehicle downtime, and support operational efficiency by keeping the fleet in peak condition.
What You Will Do
Perform regular inspections on diesel fleet vehicles and trailers to identify wear, damage, or safety issues. Use diagnostic tools and software to assess mechanical and electrical problems, ensuring accurate repairs. Conduct routine maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid level checks.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, braking systems, and HVAC components. Experience with diagnostic software and tools (OEM systems, scan tools, telematics) is also required. The candidate should be able to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5+ years of experience in diesel engine repair, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment mechanics
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, braking systems, and HVAC components
- Experience with diagnostic software and tools (OEM systems, scan tools, telematics)
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or ability to obtain
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents
