Role Overview

As a Diesel Mechanic at XPO, you will perform routine maintenance functions and adjustments on diesel equipment, troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues, and repair or rebuild equipment systems. You will work in a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. You will be part of a highly integrated network of people, technology, and physical assets, and will have opportunities for growth and development.

What You Will Do

Your main responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance functions and adjustments on diesel equipment, troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and component issues, and repairing or rebuilding equipment systems. You will also be responsible for conducting safety inspections, maintaining proficiency with equipment and technologies, and interacting with operations and shop management.

Why It Might Be a Fit

To succeed in this role, you will need to have 2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance. You will also need to obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, and will need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift more than 75 lbs.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school degree with certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance
  • EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Valid driver's license
  • Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC) and mechanical skills
  • Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance
  • Basic computer skills
  • Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25
  • Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19
