Job Description
KCTV5 is looking for a Digital Content Producer who lives and breathes social media—someone who can curate, verify, and package what Kansas City is talking about into smart, fast, accurate, high-performing content across our social platforms and digital products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • 2–3+ years producing digital/social content for a newsroom, media brand, or high-velocity publisher.
  • Strong news judgment and excellent writing/editing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to curate (not just create): identifying what matters, adding context, and publishing quickly.
  • Comfort working in a breaking news environment with rapid decision-making and tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of social best practices (captions, hooks, thumbnails, aspect ratios, accessibility, headline discipline).
  • Basic photo/video editing skills (e.g., Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Canva, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Experience producing short-form video (vertical video editing, subtitles, beat-driven pacing).
  • Experience with live coverage workflows (live blogs, stream clipping, social live updates).
  • CMS experience and basic SEO knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of AP Style and the ability to write clean, accurate copy under deadline.
  • Analytics experience (Meta insights, YouTube analytics, social listening tools, Google Analytics/Chartbeat/Parse.ly, etc.).
