Role OverviewThe Direct Support Professional/Recreational Counselor engages individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in social and recreational activities. They research resources, programs, and services for individuals and complete required documentation to meet audit standards.
What You Will Do
Engage participants in social, health/wellness, recreational, exploratory discussion and other activities/groups. Provide computer assisted learning and communication. Obtain setting-up and cleaning-up refreshments and materials. Complete required documentation to meet audit standards.

Must have good interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to problem-solve. Experience with developing and creating innovative recreation and other activities is a plus.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; Associates degree preferred
- Previous experience or knowledge in the I/DD field is a plus
- Work or life experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities is a plus
- Must have good interpersonal and verbal communication skills including ability to problem-solve
- Experience with developing and creating innovative recreation and other activities
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Able to do field work, escorting individuals on trips, as needed
- Must pass OPWDD fingerprinting and background check
