Role OverviewThe Director for Accounting and Assistant Controller will oversee all accounting functions within the accounting office, working under the direction of the Vice President for Operations and Finance. This role will support the overall mission of the C&MA by ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records and transactions. The Director will lead the preparation of financial statements, coordinate the annual external audit process, and ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, federal and state regulations, and organizational financial policies.
What You Will Do
The Director will direct all accounting and financial reporting functions, review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports, and oversee donor revenue accounting, fixed asset accounting, and applicable tax filings and registrations. They will also provide financial guidance and support to ministry departments and national office leadership, and lead accounting support for major organizational events.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
- CPA certification preferred
- 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience
- 3+ years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
- Experience in nonprofit, church, ministry, or multi-entity accounting environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Demonstrated ability to lead accounting operations, manage audits, and develop financial processes
- Experience supervising and developing accounting staff
