Role OverviewThe Director, Governmental Affairs will play an important role on the state Government Affairs team by developing, coordinating, and implementing state legislative and advocacy activities. This position will require an ability to be present in Albany with limited notice, especially when the NYS legislature is in session. Periodic travel to our headquarters located in Rensselaer, New York, and within New York State is required.
What You Will Do
Key responsibilities include actively participating in the development, coordination, and implementation of HANYS state legislative and advocacy activities, representing HANYS and advocating on behalf of HANYS' members, evaluating and providing subject matter expertise on key issues, and communicating state advocacy developments to the HANYS membership.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of five years of related professional experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of the NYS Legislature and the Executive branch
- Understanding of the political landscape in New York State
- Prior experience in government relations or within state government
- Solid understanding of health care policy and financing issues
- Working knowledge in health care economics
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with drafting position memos, briefs on healthcare issues, and written communications to policy leaders
Benefits
- Salary between $95,000 and $104,000 annually
- Payrate offered will be based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities and in consideration of internal equity
