Job Description
The Director of Health Services is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising the defined programs of the Health Services Department. The Director assumes a leadership role in providing opportunities for pupils and staff members to develop sound physical, mental, emotional, and social health.

Requirements

  • Administers programs within the Health Services Department
  • Plans health services programs and services
  • Coordinates staff of school nurses, health room assistants, and Nurse Practitioners
  • Prepares and submits reports as required
  • Facilitates communications between the medical community and the school district
  • Applies for and coordinates grants and programs
  • Encourages and provides staff development opportunities
  • Researches, studies, and evaluates new school health programs and materials
  • Confers with parents, pupils, and community agencies concerning health needs of children and youth
  • Provides assistance and advice to school personnel in interpreting policies in the area of school health services
  • Provides leadership in programs to promote positive health attitudes and practices
  • Collaborates with other student support services administrators
  • Assists in supervising and evaluating school nurses
  • Organizes and conducts audits
  • Supervises homebound services for the district
  • Works with the Director of Pupil Transportation on health needs for students
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and oversees operations of the district employee onboarding clinic
  • Oversees the district Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program
