Role OverviewThe Director of Counseling Services will provide visionary leadership and direction for Counseling Services staff to effectively deliver services and initiatives that promote and support student mental health and development. The Director will provide clinical and administrative supervision of Counseling Services staff and graduate student interns, and will be responsible for setting up strategic vision and priorities, researching and implementing evidence-based practices, and maintaining awareness of industry trends and regulations.
What You Will Do
Deliver confidential individual and group counseling services, maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation, and provide leadership and support in crisis intervention and response. Develop and implement comprehensive counseling and wellness programs, presentations, events, and outreach throughout the year. Cultivate collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to support student needs, and partner with external agencies to coordinate and facilitate appropriate referrals.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education Counseling, or a closely related field, and will possess and maintain a current New York State license as a Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). The candidate will have a minimum of three years of progressively responsible post-licensure professional experience in counseling, mental health services, student development, or guidance services, and will have demonstrated commitment to student success, wellness, equity, and inclusion.
