Job Description
Director of Engineering position at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa. Responsible for maintaining the overall operation of the maintenance department and the appearance and working order of the hotel. Must have 6 years or more of progressive hotel or building management experience, opening hotels and previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred, resort experience required, and resort renovation experience preferred. Responsibilities include maintaining the exterior of the building, parking lot, and common areas, maintaining all equipment in guest rooms, conducting monthly safety inspections, and working with vendors. Must be comfortable with CAL OSHA and OSHA training, have a strong working knowledge of all major building systems, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Opening hotels and previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred
  • Resort experience (grounds, spa, pool etc.) required
  • Resort renovation experience preferred
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills
  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Must be comfortable with CAL OSHA and OSHA training
  • A strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life-safety systems, is required for this position
  • A strong working knowledge of mechanical skills
  • Proficient in professional public area maintenance practices
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Must be comfortable with computers and proficient with Microsoft based programs like Excel, Word, Outlook and others
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Engineering/Facility Management degree preferred
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in the sun and sand
  • Ability to push and pull heavy amounts of weight
