Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, multi-task oriented, senior professional to provide oversight and support for our fleet maintenance program. The Director of Fleet Maintenance will ensure that all contractual requirements are achieved, monitor daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports, and manage a budget for the maintenance program and innovative preventive maintenance initiatives.

What You Will Do

The Director of Fleet Maintenance will be responsible for managing a team of employees, monitoring reports, managing budgets, and implementing work schedules and projects. They will also be responsible for managing the financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation, communicating effectively with staff, and displaying initiative, professionalism, candor, and tact.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of fixed route bus maintenance management experience
  • Experience managing/directing 20+ employees
  • Experience working with 100+ buses
  • Experience working in transit industry
  • Previous passenger transportation experience
  • Client interface track record on strategic fleet initiatives
  • OSHA regulations and environmental requirements
  • Ability to manage and interface with unionized labor
  • Ability to track and control parts inventories, vendors, and suppliers
  • Ability to prioritize, implement, and manage work schedules, projects, and assignments
  • Ability to manage financial/accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation
  • Technical competence with light/medium/heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance
  • ASE or manufacture's certifications a plus
  • Technical experience with fixed route/coach transit bus maintenance
  • Solid knowledge of managing audits, PM schedules
  • Experience with Diesel, CNG, and Alternative fuels a plus
  • College degree or equivalent business management experience
  • Management experience required
  • Experienced in Word, Excel, and database software and fleet software platforms
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of multi-tasking skills
  • CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement

Benefits

  • Starting salary range: $140,000 - $163,000
