Director of Transportation

The Director of Transportation will oversee the planning and supervision of perishable and non-perishable food distribution movement, scheduling daily and weekly routes using technology to ensure on-time dispatch. The role requires thorough knowledge of supply chain management and understanding of warehouse procedures, dispatching orders, and tracking and maintaining transportation vehicles.

What You Will Do

The Director of Transportation will lead a team of drivers and managers, develop KPIs and performance standards, oversee performance, and resolve distribution matters. The role involves daily outbound transportation routing, customer service relations, and resolution of supply chain management issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a combination of physical distribution, transportation, resources management, e-commerce, retail
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or relevant field
• Proven track record of achieving excellence through fostering strong relationships, delivering on priorities, problem-solving, building capability and leadership, and developing high-performing teams
• Technical aptitude with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data visualization applications (such as GIS, Tableau, etc.)
• Experience with project management methodology including PMP/Lean Six Sigma/Kaizen
• Experience organizing and tracing orders using software such as Samsara, Roadnet or similar programs
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage people
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Capable of lifting to 40 pounds to include boxes, equipment and/or supplies

• Must possess personal vehicle and valid NJ driver’s license
