Job Description
The Director, Precollege and Undergraduate Education is responsible for supporting teachers of psychology and communicating the value of the discipline. A goal is to develop initiatives that apply psychological science, including the scholarship on teaching and learning for those teaching in high school, undergraduate, or graduate level education.

Requirements

  • Doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in psychology
  • 10+ years of teaching experience working in higher education
  • 10+ years of experience with course design, instruction, instructional technology, and assessment at the undergraduate or graduate level
  • 10+ years of experience implementing professional development opportunities for students and/or early-career faculty in teaching practices
  • Established record of expertise in the scholarship in teaching and learning, including publications, presentations, or funded projects
  • Evidence of translating Science of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) findings into practical strategies for educators across K–12 and/or higher education
  • Experience leading or participating in faculty development initiatives that promote evidence-based teaching
  • Evidence of ability to design and implement educational programs informed by psychological science
  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, and program evaluation
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational environments
  • Strong communication skills for engaging diverse audiences (educators, researchers, policymakers)
  • Experience advocating for evidence-based teaching practices in higher education and beyond
  • Ability to represent APA as a thought leader in applying psychological science to education
