Job Description
The Director, Precollege and Undergraduate Education is responsible for supporting teachers of psychology and communicating the value of the discipline. A goal is to develop initiatives that apply psychological science, including the scholarship on teaching and learning for those teaching in high school, undergraduate, or graduate level education.
Requirements
Doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in psychology
10+ years of teaching experience working in higher education
10+ years of experience with course design, instruction, instructional technology, and assessment at the undergraduate or graduate level
10+ years of experience implementing professional development opportunities for students and/or early-career faculty in teaching practices
Established record of expertise in the scholarship in teaching and learning, including publications, presentations, or funded projects
Evidence of translating Science of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) findings into practical strategies for educators across K–12 and/or higher education
Experience leading or participating in faculty development initiatives that promote evidence-based teaching
Evidence of ability to design and implement educational programs informed by psychological science
Experience in strategic planning, project management, and program evaluation
Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational environments
Strong communication skills for engaging diverse audiences (educators, researchers, policymakers)
Experience advocating for evidence-based teaching practices in higher education and beyond
Ability to represent APA as a thought leader in applying psychological science to education
