Role OverviewThe Disability Rights Advocate will work with individuals with disabilities to live independently in the community, providing service, information, and referrals to community resources. The role involves conducting consumer intakes, needs assessments, and collaborating with businesses and service providers to promote accessibility improvements.
What You Will Do
Conduct consumer intakes and needs assessments, provide service to assist and support individuals with disabilities, provide information and referrals to community resources, and work with individuals and agencies to promote accessibility improvements.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The successful candidate will have experience working with people with disabilities, knowledge of ADA, IDEA, and other relevant laws and programs, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
Requirements
- College Degree (preferred)
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Two-four years working with people with disabilities
- Experience working with aging populations/senior services or youth services/educational advocacy
